Brian has been a resident of the Hawkesbury since 1981. He entered the real estate industry in 1985, after 20 years in pharmaceutical warehousing and distribution and is a licensed real estate and stock and station agent as well as being a qualified auctioneer.

His entire real estate career has been in the Hawkesbury and in 1991, Brian became a principal of his own agency, now Speechley Property, which he operated with his partner,
Nanette Mason, before passing it on to his son, Craig in 2022.

During his career, Brian has handled the selling, renting and leasing of all forms of real estate - residential, rural, industrial and commercial for many private, corporate and government clients, including the successful marketing of nearly 560 properties in Richmond and South Windsor on behalf of the Defence Housing Authority.

While a member of the First National Group, Brian served 9 years on the group's NSW Regional Council, a record 3 years as NSW Chairman, 5 years as a director on the National Board and 5 years as Chairman of the Group's national marketing committee, with responsibility for major advertising activities.

Brian is well known for his community activities, particularly with Rotary, where he is a two times club president and double Sapphire Paul Harris Fellow. He is also a founding Trustee and the secretary of the Windsor Rotary Youth Foundation Trust. In 1991, Brian founded Hawkesbury Life Education, to bring healthy life and anti-drug education to primary school students.
